The Pottsville girls softball team calls a time out during their scrimmage against Williams Valley on Monday at Pottsville. Even though the girls were coming back in the last two innings they unfortunately lost scoring 8-5. “Although we did not have all of our girls because of COVID-19 I believe we did a great job at the scrimmage,” said freshman Ava Bowers.

Last year, Spring sports were cut short because of the virus but this year spring sports are back. The softball team has been working non stop to get back on track from last year. Improvements are being made to the Pottsville softball team everyday since spring sports started. Not only does the softball team just practice, they lift two times a week to get stronger for the upcoming season. Unfortunately last year, the seniors did not have their season last year but the girls had a senior night to appreciate all they have done for the team.
Some players on the softball team have many words for their excitement on the upcoming season.
“So far I think we will have a great team for this year’s softball season. I am excited and anxious for the games to start and to be able to play on the high school team is an amazing opportunity. I am excited to play with my friends and to play against other teams and to hopefully have a successful season,” said freshman Madison Carl.
“Honestly I’m just really grateful we get to play, I did not get the chance to play my junior year and I was scared I wouldn’t have a senior season but I’m glad we are able to play this season. I can’t wait to get in the game with some of my closest friends and hopefully get into districts,” said senior Emma Stamm.
“I think this upcoming season will be one to remember for sure. Not only are we in a global health crisis, but it is also my senior year and I couldn’t be more excited to hear that we are actually going to have a season this year. I think we have a great team this year and I am so proud to be representing my school. I hope we make it to districts this year, that would be an amazing way to end my high school career. I am now and always will be me. But when it comes time to step onto the field, I get a little more serious, and nobody stands in my way,” said senior Jersey Cook
“I am super excited about the upcoming 2021 season, especially since we didn’t get the chance to play last year. I think we’re going to be a really good team and win a lot of games. We gained a lot of new players and everyone on the team is super talented. No matter what happens this season, I’m just so grateful to be able to play and be a part of such an amazing team,” said junior Mia Bowers
