Hi, my name is Chase Teresavage. I am a senior here at PAHS. I’m on the Pottsville Cross Country team. I’m also involved in AID, Big Impact and Mini-Thon. In my spare time I babysit, read and hangout with my friends and family.

Beckett Teresavage got dropped off at the Schuylkill Technology Center for his first day. He was excited and eager to go in to learn about criminal justice and meet new friends.

On October 9th, the boys soccer team stood behind Iris Nelson for a picture after giving her flowers and hugs to recognize her for her fight against breast cancer. The team also wore custom made shirts to show their support.

Outside of the art room 12 there is a big board of all different pieces of artwork. These pieces of artwork are done by multiple students that are involved in the art classes. Senior Gwen Hamilton said, “My piece modeled after synesthesia, a brain disorder that allows people to experience several senses at one time like hearing different sounds will result in seeing different colors, will be featured in the art show.”

My friends asked me to join and I thought it would be interesting. I always thought we had a pretty good chance of winning but I got pretty nervous in the final rounds. Now I’m just happy we get the day off to go to the capital. My favorite thing is being with my friends and there really isn’t much of a bad part.”

Coach Jake Wartella advises the team in between quarters about strategic plays and what to do next. There was a lot of pressure that was put onto the team and the coaches. They pushed through the pressure and it didn’t get in the way of their playing. Wartella said, It was a great team win against our rival. Im so proud of our kids for showing resilience by fighting through adversity and finding a way to win a huge playoff game!

Sophomore Sarah Malek performs at County Choir. She was the only student from Pottsville Area High School to be able to participate in this event. Mrs. Katie Reichard(director of bands at PAHS) said, “Having an in person festival after two years was awesome. Having the amount of people on stage was a breath of fresh air. This was my first one since being the conductor here. The director took the music to the next level and made the students better and even myself. They even had the opportunity to play instruments. Overall, they had a fun time and it was a neat experience.”

The coaches of the Pottsville Area High School Varsity basketball team talk to the players about their plays. Coach Tate Clarke said, “I really do enjoy coaching the team and it’s been a true honor to be asked to be apart of the team. I’ve grown closer with a lot more people and thanks to this opportunity my knowledge of the game of basketball has really increased. I think really the one thing I get out of it is the experience as later on in my life I would like to pursue a career in sports.”

Caroline Gist represents Mini Thon as the president her senior year. After many years of participating, 5 years. Gist said, “This year we continued our tradition of holding a “Gold Out” basketball game. The t-shirt design for each year is different in hopes students will purchase one to wear to the event. Myself and Mini-THON members will be canning to fundraise at the game. We all do this for the kids, and one day we will beat childhood cancer.”

Elise Gilot throws the ball up to serve at practice. On September 31 after school Elise Gilot was at practice. Gilot said, “I really like tennis, it’s one of my favorite sports. It is a very difficult sport both physically with the movements and especially the leg placements and mentally because it is an individual sport which means that if you miss something or do something wrong, it is very frustrating.”
