The Pottsville Football Team played Lehighton last Friday the 9th. The football team coaches take a timeout during the first half of the game.

The Pottsville Area High School Football Team has been practicing all summer long. They practiced four days a week and had two practices each day. Members would practice on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The whole team had to be at PAHS for 7a.m. to start practice at 8. That morning practice ended at 11a.m. They then ate lunch as a team and either went into the locker room to watch film of opposing teams’ games and practices or lifted in the weight room for an hour. The second practice would start at 3 p.m. and would last until 6 p.m. They couldn’t leave to go home until 7 p.m.

Their first home game of the season was against Wyomissing, Friday the 2nd. The team lost 49 to 0. Pottsville played Lehighton last Friday the 9th, they won 49-21. They play Blue Mountain away this Friday the 16th. After the loss the team has been practicing more and more to make sure they’re ready for Blue Mountain. To practice they have been watching Blue Mountain’s game films in the weight room.

Amaree Bainbridge, senior said,”I feel confident about Lehighton because they’re not ranked like Jersey Shore or Wyomissing, but we still can’t take them lightly. We just need to improve all around defensively against Lehighton and we gotta make less mistakes.”

Tejay Allen, senior said, “I feel like going to Lehighton we go down there to handle business and get the first win of the season. We have to improve defensively a lot and offensively, we have to limit our turnovers and we’ll be fine.”

The first game they played was against Jersey Shore, which was held on Friday, August 26th. Pottsville was defeated by 54-12. Pottsville is predicted to win the game this week against Blue Mountain.

Joey Palko, senior said, “We need to know our assignments on both sides of the offense and defense line.”
