Ava Jefferson and her dog Remi love spending time together outdoors. Remi is a German Shorthair Pointer, who just turned one. Ava said she is looking forward to having time off from school, so she has more time to spend with him. “I love going hunting with Remi each season, and am looking forward to going with him more because of break.”

Thanksgiving break begins November 24th with an early dismissal, and school resumes November 30th. Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday of November. Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful and thankful as well as to give thanks. PAHS is giving thanks by having clubs and organizations gather items to make Thanksgiving baskets for those in need. Family and friends gather to spend time together and have a meal. Some watch Thanksgiving parades while many others watch football.

Junior Ava Jefferson said “I am looking forward to Thanksgiving Break! I plan on eating at my grandparents house, and spending time with my family. I also want to hangout with my friends since I don’t get to do a lot with school and work.” Ava added “I usually have turkey, mashed potatoes, and different types of casseroles. My favorite casserole is my grandmother’s broccoli casserole.”

Junior Amaree Bainbridge said “I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. I’ll have basketball during break and my friends and I are having a turkey bowl. I eat what everyone usually eats on Thanksgiving but my favorite is the pumpkin pie.”

Junior Jenea Lugo-Maurer said “I am very excited! I’m planning on going to my aunts and enjoying dinner with my family. My favorite has to be the stuffing and turkey, they are the best together.”

Black Friday is the busiest shopping day every year in the U.S. and it’s been like that since at least 2005. Black Friday is always the Friday after Thanksgiving. Stores provide shoppers with many great sales and deals. Stores open extremely early on Friday, some even start the deals and sales Thanksgiving day. Lines are long and brutal, but it is well worth the time. Malls are crowded and smaller stores have lines out the doors, but shopping especially with sales, deals, and discounts is all worth the chaos.

Bainbridge said “I personally don’t go Black Friday shopping because it’s usually too packed for me.”

Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving. People can go online and shop for great deals. Stores have sales, deals, and discounts on merchandise that are endless. Some don’t have time to go Black Friday shopping after a busy Thanksgiving day so Cyber Monday is an alternative.

Jefferson said “Unfortunately I do not go Black Friday shopping, or do cyber Monday shopping because I am too busy.”
Lugo-Maurer said “I do go Black Friday shopping. I love the thrill and rush. I go to stores like Pacsun and American Eagle. They are my two favorites. I do not order on Cyber Monday, I personally prefer Black Friday because that’s when everything’s out in the stores.”

Not only do we have Thanksgiving where we gather with family and friends and eat a big meal. As well as having Black Friday and Cyber Monday but we have hunting. Although hunting has already begun, rifle season comes into effect for PA after Thanksgiving.

Jefferson said “I love hunting! I usually go out with my step dad or boyfriend. I hunt for white tail deer usually in rifle season. Waking up at the crack of dawn is not my favorite but other than that I enjoy everything that comes with hunting. Especially if I get a kill at the end of the night.”

Bainbridge said “I do not go hunting because it never really interests me and I don’t wanna be in the cold for too long.”
