Harry Walls

Hi, I’m Harry Walls, a new staffer on Tidelines. I play tener saxophone for the marching band  and am also a member of drama club. I was hanging around the pub room was told to do something, so now I’m here writing articles.

Senior band members stand on the stage as they are receiving their gift. This year they were given portable chargers with “PAHS 2021” on it. Senior Jake Montgomery comments on the event saying, “We did a nice farewell video and award ceremony for all the seniors.”

The drama club is warming up with physical and vocal workouts before rehearsals. Alyssa Sherrif and Annabelle Chaklos stretch before rehearsal on Monday, March 22. Alyssa says, “I am very happy to participate in this musical. Drama club has always been something that I look forward to on a daily basis!”

The girls swim team stands proud on the podium knowing they made history as the first district runner ups. Overall the girls scored a 242 in the team event. Katie Painter says, “Being able to compete in districts was a great experience. With the new change, came more opportunities to swim and compete and allowed for a really wonderful day packed with many memories.”

Students were able to have snow days and use them for wh they wanted to. Now, they yearn for those days but understand that virtual days are better for school. Zoe Holden says, “I enjoy having a snow day here and there... but having virtual days can be more helpful and beneficial.”

Graduate Noah George is seen at boot camp preparing to become a marine. The crucible at the marine boot camp was the final transition to becoming a United States Marine. George says, “No matter what you do, you can’t prepare mentally for boot camp. It is stressful and intense the whole way through.

Victoria Fuss poses with her coach and two teammates after the Schuykill League Championships. Victoria Fuss won last year’s championship as well. “I was hoping to win again this year, but I just went out and tried my best and it pulled through,” said Fuss.

Mr. Sterner is taking safety precautions by wearing his mask while teaching class. Masks were made a requirement in order to enter the building at Pottsville Area. Mr. Sterner said, “I find it is much more difficult to get to know my students, only getting to see kids no more than 2 days a week and only seeing half of their faces while they are here.”
