Students who attended STC for the first semester of the school year have recently returned back to Pottsville. With these two schools being completely different the question of which do the students prefer comes to mind. STC otherwise known as Schuylkill Technology Center is a place where students can learn skills for their future careers like cosmetology, mechanics, engineering, etc.

Students who just returned from STC had similar opinions on which school they like more. The majority said they prefer STC. A sophomore at PAHS, Grace Lapachinsky, was recently in the cosmetology department at the north campus of STC. “I like attending STC. STC for cosmetology is much more motivating than home school. I enjoy the program so much it’s like I’m not even at school. Being a hairstylist is my biggest dream and I’m so happy to be achieving it at STC,” Lapachinsky said.

Devyn Hemerly, a junior at PAHS, is in the heating and plumbing department at the north campus. Devyn prefers this program because it prepares him for real life situations. Devyns plans on continuing a career in plumbing after he graduates. “STC is an amazing place to learn skills I will use in the future. STC prepares me for having my own home as well and I love being a role model to the younger kids in plumbing,” Hemerly said.
