It is Red Ribbon week at PAHS, which is an annual drug, alcohol, and tobacco prevention program held in schools across the United States. Red Ribbon week usually takes place during the last week of October, and it focuses on educating students about the dangers of substance abuse and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
High schools across the country often promote activities, such as themed dress up days. Here at PAHS, The themes for this week include Hollywood Heroes, Classic 80’s and 90’s Movie Characters, Sports Star, Red Carpet Ready, and Red for Friday. The overall theme for this week is Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free.
The Red Ribbon week campaign began in 1985, in memory of a man who lost his life in a fight against drugs. Since then, Red Ribbon week has developed into a great way to spread awareness across the country.
