As Halloween approaches, it is the perfect time for fall festivities. The Pottsville Area band members are often found in local parades around the county, including the annual Saint Clair, Pottsville, and New Philadelphia parades. Pottsville’s marching band, cheerleaders, and majorettes all perform in these parades. During this, our performers dress up in costumes, instead of their usual uniform to show their Halloween spirit, they even throw candy to the crowd watching.
The marching band plays music, such as Night on Bald Mountain, Thriller, and Ghostbusters. There is also an annual Trunk or Treat held in Pottsville. Trunk or treat is a safe way for young children to participate in the Halloween traditions. Student groups such as clubs, sports, and band members often hand out treats and candy in a decorated trunk, which displays a theme.
Halloween traditions are a festive way to celebrate this holiday, which can include everybody. People also enjoy other things such as costume parties, haunted houses, pumpkin carving, and the most popular amongst children, trick or treating. Traditions and parades capture the essence and Halloween spirit, with creativity, fun, and a touch of the holiday history.
