With recents news on the hurricanes happening in Florida, it has caused mass destruction across the state. Many people have lost their lives, family members, homes, pets, and all their belongings in this natural disaster. When something so devastating happens a similar pattern can be seen throughout the country. From the news and social media it is seen that so many people affected and unaffected by the storm, have come together to help and support each other. Many organizations have planned a food drive, donations and many other charities for the hurricane.
Social media has also been a big aspect in the recovery from the hurricane. On many platforms like Instagram and TikTok people have created “Gofundsmes” and other charities that accept money donations. Some people have even gone above and beyond and opened up their homes to ones without a good living environment. One organization that is helping with hurricane relief is Second Harvest food bank in Central Florida. They are collecting all non tangible items.
As well as local charities helping out our school district has also collected items. Pottsville sports teams such as girls soccer and Lady Tide volleyball have all brought food, necessities and other items to give to families in need. As well as our athletes helping, the students in the club Aevidum have all taken a part in helping out. Mrs Sponenburg is the clubs leader and she asked students at the last meeting to bring in items such as diapers, toiletries, food, etc.
Florida is still in need of help to so if you are able to help, please donate any money or items that you can. Anything will be greatly appreciated. If you want to help there’s many websites online and you can always bring items into school to help out with the cause.
