With such overwhelming support from the student body at Pottsville’s Volleyball games we can see such a positive impact on the girls playing. There is a prominent difference from last year’s games to this years, which are caused by many things but one main factor is the supportive student section.

This season there has been a big switch in the support volleyball receives. From relatives, school staff, friends, and students all coming to watch the volleyball games the team has definitely changed their outlook on games. The volleyball team has always been full of hardworking and determined players that put their all into practice and games. But with this year’s support the team can be seen having a more positive attitude in the games and when mistakes are made they get right back to playing because of the student sections cheers.

Two of the organizers of the student section are Cullen Clarke and Luke Schane. Clarke and Schane are both seniors at Pottsville High School. These two can be seen in the front row of the student section at every game. Making sure to make it to all home and away games, with also bringing along all their friends and including younger students.

“What I like most about the student section is that it feels like we get to run a smaller fan base and community with our friends. The girls on the team support us all the time in our sports, so it’s fun to pay it forward because they deserve the recognition,” senior Cullen Clarke said.

Another reason for the team’s new found recognition is the athletic staff. This year Pottsville gained an amazing and unique athletic director, Derrel Johnson-Koulianos. He has made such a positive impact on Pottsville athletics with the little time he has been here. He created an instagram account that posts all upcoming sports events. Which has brought so many new people to the games. The team appreciates his dedication so much and loves seeing him at the games. Mrs. Tiffany Hummel also shows her support by attending every home game and video taping all the amazing plays the team makes.

They enjoy seeing everyone who attends the game and it also lifts their spirits up during competitive matches.
