As the cold weather starts to decline and warm temperatures rise, we know it’s time for some spring sports action. Whether that comes from the track, tennis court, or the baseball and softball fields, athletes are preparing to take on the season and showcase their skills.
Both the baseball and softball teams kicked off their season with wins over Daniel Boone, on March 15th. Both teams clinched their first win on their home fields, with the boys score of 6-5, and the girls score of 13-1, in 5 innings. Boys baseball will be back in action on March 19th, home against Fleetwood Area, which is also the same for the girls softball team.
Boys tennis also started their season, with their first match versus Conrad Weiser, which unfortunately resulted in a loss. The boys will play next on March 19th, away, at Schuylkill Valley High School. They will face Hamburg Area for their 2nd home match of the season on March 28th, at the JFK Tennis Courts.
Lastly, track and field will begin their season on March 24th, away at Hazleton Area High School, which is a non-league meet for the Crimson Tide. The track team will start their season off with four away meets, including the Pan Ram Invitational, with multiple opponents.
“I’m nervous about the upcoming season but I’m also excited to see how it plays out. The competition this year is no joke, so I have a lot more to prove of myself on the track. This year I hope to set new personal records, qualify for the big meets, and have better results than years prior,” Junior Alexa Giuffre said.
