Last week, during Pottsville’s Schuylkill League match against Panther Valley, Megan Yost earned her 1000th assist. In the 5 set match, Yost recorded 50 assists, 21 digs, and 4 kills. Yost says she was hoping and expecting her big milestone this season, but did not expect to earn it as quickly as she did. Considering that Megan is only in her sophomore season, achieving this milestone is a huge accomplishment.
During intense matches like this one, the Lady Tide keeps the energy up by celebrating and cheering, brushing off mistakes, and reassuring each other. The scores for each set during the match were 18-25, 25-16, 14-25, 25-17, 19-17. In matches like these, it is important for Pottsville to stay energetic and make smart plays. In the final set, both teams went back and forth, exceeding the usual 15 point set, with Pottsville taking the win.
As Megan Yost controlled the offense, Key contributors Lainey Dusel and Anna Burke ran the offense. Lainey Dusel added 10 kills and 2 blocks, while Anna Burke put up 16 kills and 4 blocks for the Lady Tide. Yost says to contribute to the win she was trying to be vocal to her hitters, and be smart with the ball. She also lets her hitters know what spots are open on the court to help score.
Megan Yost says that she could not have achieved this huge accomplishment without her amazing hitters. As this milestone isn’t just a big accomplishment, it is also a motivator for the Lady Tide, as the team brings great talent and has more big milestones to achieve.
