The first ever Pottsville Film Festival is quickly approaching. Many exciting things will come along with the film festival. The festival will be held in downtown Pottsville and films will be shown at the Majestic Theater. This festival is an amazing opportunity for PAHS students as well as other aspiring filmmakers. Students will be able to sign up for the festival free of charge. Keeshaun King and Mitchell Cox are two PAHS students who are participating in the film showcase.
Mitchell Cox is the director/ actor and Keeshaun King is a producer/ actor in their film. Their film is a revenge film filled with action. The story follows “one bad experience can change a person’s entire perspective”. When being interviewed about their film and what their plans for the festival both said. “If we win the cash prize of $500 we will invest the money in more film equipment and continue our filmmaking journey”. Mitchell Cox also gave me some information on script writing as he is creating the script for his film. “He said the process is short and easily changeable, and that the script will soon be finalized”. Both students are looking for actors and if you are interested they would love to see if you’re the right fit for their film.
There is still plenty of time to be a contestant in the film festival; the dates for submission are March 28th, 2025. And the film festival will take place May 31st – June 1st of 2025. Even if you are not involved in the making of a film there will be many other fun things to do at the festival. Food venders and other stands will be attended. And meet and greets will be held with two celebrities in the film world Danny Grimaldi from the Sopranos and Meredith Avirell a writer for Netflix.
Both Mitchell and Keeshaun are very excited to show their film at the festival. So if you’re looking for something to do during the times of the festival stop by and support your fellow students in their journey of film production. The festival will be a whole day event and will have something for everyone. Don’t miss out on this special event.
