On November 10th, a man came into Walmart and fired shots in the air. There has yet to be any charges against the individuals involved. The suspects include three men. The shooting started with an altercation between two of the men. That led to a physical fight. This led the third man to shoot around into the air as a distraction. This whole situation happened shortly after 4 p.m. according to officials.
After shots were fired, Walmart employees quickly called the cops. When police arrived none of the suspects disobeyed orders. All of them were compliant. One of our students at Pottsville High School was at Walmart when shots were fired. I asked Jackie Robinson, a junior at Pottsville, about her experience during a frightening situation.“Even though nobody got hurt and shots were fired for a warning, it was still very scary for customers and employees. Walmart does an amazing job at preparing staff for situations like this. But actually going through protocols is a surreal experience,” she said.
When investigators spoke to the man who fired the gun he said he only fired it to make the other men stop fighting. Many people disagreed with this action thinking it would only cause more violence. Although no one was hurt a commotion was made. Once the noise was heard, sources say everyone in the store was screaming “Get out of the store!.”
This is especially scary for St. Clair and Pottsville citizens because a situation happening so close to home is frightening to everyone involved or not. So it is important to have plans for when a situation like thi happens. This is becoming a big issue around the world, with many different places having shootings.
