The National Honor Society, oftenly known as NHS is an organization across high schools in the United States, that recognizes academic success amongst junior and senior students. Here at PAHS, the top 5% of juniors are inducted, and the top 10% of the senior class is also inducted. Therefore, there are a total of 21 seniors, and 13 juniors.
During the induction ceremony, students are dressed formally and are presented in the auditorium to fellow classmates and family. As the ceremony continues, each student is introduced with their full name, what they plan to study in college, and a potential university of choice. Every year, there is also a speaker, which is usually a teacher here at Pottsville, this year it was Mr. Rhoades. During his speech, he talked about opening new doors for yourself.
“It felt very rewarding to be inducted into the National Honor Society my junior year. The ceremony was very nice, and I enjoyed the time spent with my family and friends afterwards,” Junior Jes Siminitus said.
National Honor Society is an academic organization that many students here at PAHS strive towards. This motivates many students to do their best and work towards their goals.
