The PAHS Crimson Players are new to doing fall shows. The club used to do some type of cabaret in the fall and then a musical in the spring. Last year, they did SIX the musical, and the year before that it was a cabaret with alumni performing songs from past shows.
One thing that is new about this is that some of the seniors in the cast did this in middle school before the COVID-19 Pandemic hit. It’s a full circle moment for them to be able to put on a show that was never able to be performed.
“I feel so proud to put on a show that got shut down when I was thirteen. Since I am now able to perform it as a senior it feels so special. It feels like I’ve matured since then and grown as a person and a performer,” Senior Jillian Horvath said.
The entire student body got a sneak peek of what the show would be this weekend. The actors in the play previewed it for the school to see. They sang four songs in all and even got a peer up on stage to be included.
“I like how creative the shows are every year. I feel like they put their all into it especially when they have to perform it for the school. It’s really awesome seeing kids I go to school with really step out of their comfort zone,” Senior Tahlil White said.
Mr. Joseph Halko is new to the Pottsville Area School District and has never seen a Pottsville musical. “I thought it was really good. I thought it built up to something really cool and you could see all their hard work,” Mr. Halko said.
