PAHS Crimson Players, Annabella Chalkos and Mr. Portland rehearsed a scene from “Guys and Dolls.” They sang the song “Fugue for the Tinhorns.”

Pottsville Area High School’s drama club is looking to rock the boat this year with their spring musical, “Guys and Dolls.” The musical is a two hour and a half long play that tells the story of some gamblers, missionaries, hot boxers, which are girls who dance and more. The club is hoping to make this musical a success.

Pre-auditions for the spring show were in late November, and rehearsals followed soon after. The drama club first starts to learn their music for a couple of weeks, and then putting the moves on stage starts.

“I’m very excited to put this show on for an audience. The club has been working hard for a while and for us to finally be able to show it, will be a very light-hearted, fun experience because that’s what theater is all about,” said sophomore Connor McGowan.

“Drama club is always fun because you’re always moving and doing something different. Even when you’re not on call, you can find yourself in the hall practicing that one dance you can’t get right,” said senior Xavier Phillip Johnson.

Zoe Holden says, “I am beyond excited for my senior year show. Guys and Dolls has been a fan favorite in my family over the years so being able to perform it for them is nerve racking and thrilling. So far the drama club and I have been hard at work so I am excited to put our hard work onto the stage one last time.”

The show dates are March 31, at 7 pm, April 1, at 7 pm, and April 2, at 2 pm in Watcher Auditorium.
