Abby Shroding- Major in Pre-Chiropractic Medicine
“[My favorite extracurricular activity is] Drama Club, because whenever I act or even just take part in theater, I whole-heartedly enjoy myself. I can forget any and all other worries when I am on stage. It means so much to me and all the experiences I’ve had are unforgettable.”
“While I am not in volleyball, it remains my favorite sport. I love how fast-paced it is. I love the feeling of getting a dig or an ace.”
“My favorite subject is a tie between Anatomy/Physiology and Literature/Writing. I have always found the study of the human body fascinating and I have always found solace in writing and reading.”
Sarah Griffiths- Major in Zoology and Photography
“My favorite extracurricular activity would be Sketch Club. I just really love using art to help and do things in our community. I also really enjoy Senior Mural Restoration. It’s a lot of pressure though, because you don’t want to ruin a legacy.”
“My favorite sport is hockey. I grew up watching my grandfather “coach” the Penguins, so I connect hockey to him.”
“My favorite subject is art, of course. I like it because you can express yourself, create things that mean something to you and leave your mark on this world.”
Rachel Rubright- Major in Clinical Psychology
“My favorite extracurricular activity is theater. I love getting to go on stage and pretending to be someone else for a while, and getting to make others smile.”
“I do not play any sports, but when it comes to viewing, I love watching football and cheering for my favorite team.”
“My favorite subject is definitely history. I love to learn about other cultures, and see how people behaved. Without studying history, no one would learn from their mistakes.”
Abbey Kostyal- Major in Graphic Design, Minor in Theater
“I love being in PAHS’s Drama club. It’s honestly amazing that goofing around with all of my friends somehow turns into an amazing musical come spring. Being in Drama club has definitely been the highlight of my high school experience.”
“I like football season for two reasons only: the pep rallies, and having the time of my life in the band stands. It’s not even so much about the sport itself; I just really like being a part of the band. I love football season so much.”
“I love Art and English. I like Art classes because they help me unwind from a stressful and tiring day at school. I like English because I love to read in my free time and writing really comes naturally to me.”

“My favorite extracurricular activity is Student Council because in it we have many events that help the community. Some of these events are Penny-A-Week and food basket donations.”
“Soccer is my favorite sport because I have always found soccer to be fun and competitive. I also always really enjoyed playing soccer on the soccer team and with friends.”

“When it existed, I enjoyed eSports Club. It was a good opportunity to spend time with friends, meet new ones, and compete in something the school hadn’t offered before.”
“My favorite sport is probably professional bowling. Kingpin was a really good movie, and it left an impact on me.”
“AP World History was my favorite class I took throughout high school. It was interesting to learn how historical events impacted each other, and it really opened me up to wanting to learn more.”

“My favorite extracurricular is Quiz Team, because we get to compete with other schools and meet new people with similar interests.”

Jillian Mullin- Major in Dance Education
“My favorite extracurricular is dance, because it’s a form of self-expression. I spend at least five days a week in the studio because it’s relaxin and incredibly rewarding.”
“My favorite sport is Football because I love the atmosphere of the games. I get to twirl on the field as a majorette, and then dance alongside the band and support our team.”

“My favorite extracurricular activity is Pub. It provides a lot if experience in Graphic Design and writing, and it allows you to meet many new people.”
“My favorite sport is basketball. I played basketball for a couple of years in middle school, and I enjoy the sport’s fast pace and intensity.”

MEET THE JUNIORS IN NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Emma Walinsky- Major in Biochemistry/ Pre-Med Track
“My favorite extracurricular activity would have to be Publications. Writing for the school website and magazine helps me work on my time management and writing skills, while still having a good laugh over the most random things.”
“My favorite sport is water polo. Although I have only played it for two years, it has taught me more about friendship and working together as a team. It is an honor to represent the team as a co-captain along with two of my closest friends.”
“When I first walked into the high school, I had my heart tied to English, but my sophomore year changed my mindset. Thanks to Mr. Albert Portland, I developed a new passion for Chemistry, and basically all things science. I was fascinated by the different types of reactions and the use of the “mole”, which led me to further my knowledge in Advanced Chemistry with Mrs. Patrica Halko. Because of these two teachers and the content they have showed me, I found my happy place in Chemistry.”
Michala Zembas- Dual Major in Elementary Education and Musical Theater
“[My favorite extracurricular activity is] drama club, because there is something about being on stage and performing that just feels right, and the people in drama club that are truly incredible.”
“[My favorite sport is] Tennis. I have been playing Tennis for twelve years and I have grown as a player substantially. I also love watching people play Tennis.”
“[My favorite subject is] Literature. I love that authors can use their creativity to make so many different stories, using only the same 26 letters, combined in different ways.”

“I love anything related to the arts and making various pieces”
“My favorite sport is soccer. I haven’t played it in quite a while, but it’s still fun and interesting to watch.”
“My favorite subject is History, and learning about the past is both fun and helps me make connections between various events in different times.”

“[My favorite extracurricular activity is] student council; I love doing Penny-A-Week and delivering the presents to the homes in our area, knowing little kids will wake up to them on Christmas morning.”
“[My favorite sport is] football. There’s no better feeling than walking down the hill on a Friday night. I also enjoy the strategy and game-planning that is required to win.”
[My favorite subject is science; in particular, Chemistry and Physics. I like how they combine the problem solving of math and the critical thinking of science.”
Thomas Honicker- Major in Music Education
“My favorite extracurricular activity is band. I love music and band is one of the reasons why I want to major in music.”‘
“My favorite sport at the school is football. It’s fun to watch and I love playing music at the games.”
“My favorite subject is math. I like all subjects, but math is the one I seem to understand most.”
Sophie Murray- Major in Accounting (CPA)
“[My favorite extracurricular activity is] dance; I’ve been dancing since I was three, I have so many great friends and teachers there, and I just love to dance.”
“[My favorite sport is] football; I love bring a part of the student section and watching all the guys work hard every Friday night.”
[My favorite subject is] math, especially Algebra. I love how there is always a definite answer and always a way to get that answer. It’s always black and white, no gray area.”

“[My favorite extracurricular activity is] Pub, because it’s fun to create something that every student can remember their four years here by looking at the yearbook. I always have fun with all of the staffers.”
“[My favorite sport is] soccer, because all of my friends play, and we’ve always have a great time playing together since we were eight.”

Erin Cleary- Major in Nursing
“I like hanging out with my friends. It doesn’t matter what we’re doing as long as we’re together.”
“[My favorite sport is] Soccer, because the team is like my family. We are all friends on the team and love playing a sport we love together.”

“My favorite extracurricular activity is Pub. Pub is unique because it’s similar to a small business with the exception of high school students.”
“Football is my favorite sport, especially this year because of how well Pottsville is doing. It’s always fun going to the Friday night games and cheering in the student section.”
“My favorite subject is English. I have had Mr. Smink for the past three years of high school and he has always made reading stories and writing papers interesting.”
