History Night is an annual event that takes place here at Pottsville. If you’re a junior at PAHS that took American History 3 Honors you spend most of your third and fourth marking periods on this project. The project requires a great deal of preparation and effort to be able to present first in front of your peers, and then to the public.
Each year there are a multitude and variety of topics, each taking a spin on their interpretation of what the “history” of something or someone is. Before you can even get started you must approve your topic with history teacher, Mr. Charles Taronis so he can make sure that the topic you chose isn’t overused so that new topics are available.
The students are allowed to take their own spin on things, choosing to bring in decorations or dressing the part of their topic. Everything in this project is really open to you and your group’s meanings and interpretations and also, the real facts and history.
“I had a lot of fun discussing the topics and history of the Cold War. There’s a lot to talk about so we had to narrow our search down and choose to focus on only some of the most important parts of the Cold War,” Junior Cole Hoak said.
