Pottsville’s annual parade took place on Friday March 15th. The parade was set in downtown Pottsville and began at noon. This parade is a celebration and sets off all the St Patty’s Day festivities. Many people come to watch the parade for the horses, trolleys, musicians, and floats.
Our students even participated in the parade. Our band marched during the parade. Many parents and other students came to watch. Our band works hard every day preparing music. The final performance was amazing. Our students who participate in band are all hard working and passionate about their music.
Winter carnival, other schools, and bagpipe players all March in the parade. Everyone seen participating and watching all have festive attire on. This includes green, orange and yellow clothing. And some goings even dressed up as leprechauns.
One of our guidance counselors was a bagpipe player. Mr. Roder played the bagpipe in the parade and when interviewed he said, “I started playing the bagpipe in 2007 when I was 10, I love playing this instrument and being a part of the community.”
This annual event has been going on since 1976 and will continue for many years to come. So if you weren’t able to attend this year’s parade make sure you go next year. The parade has many different things that everyone will love. Our school is definitely looking forward to next year’s parade.
