As the years go by, vaping becomes more and more of a crisis in teenagers and schools. More and more students get caught vaping at school than ever before. The vaping epidemic grows in numbers every single year, with the marketing strategies vaping companies have.
Vaping companies specifically market their products to children with their flavors like “cotton candy” and “gummy worm” flavors targeting audiences. PAHS has been working hard to combat and control students who are struggling with addiction or just in general vaping. Although students get a fine if they are caught with a vape, faculty is hard at work to stop vaping.
The PAHS administration has had contests for students to participate in a “NO Vaping” campaign with posters around the school and even a TideTV ad to be shown to students every morning. The idea is to encourage students to not take up vaping if they haven’t already, and students who do, to stop immediately so that there are no future repercussions on their body and mind due to all the effects nicotine has on the body.
“I think that vaping is lame. There’s so many side effects to vaping and getting addicted is so easy and difficult to control once it gets out of hand,” Junior Cole Hoak said.
