Many High School students over the world have shown an increase in anxiety throughout the school year. As the school year progresses students are responsible to do more in and out of school. Many teens balance home, work, and school life all by themselves. This is a big pressure and can lead to issues in the future. Many factors of anxiety in school are from parental factors, school work, and keeping up with other activities.
Parents are a big part of teen anxiety. Lots of parents put pressure on their kids to excel in all their classes, sports, and other extracurricular activities. As the school year progresses, work becomes more difficult. During the first marking period students worked on the basics of their classes. Now they have taken on a new pile of work. Many honors classes have begun having finals and end of the quarter exams and projects. This puts an immense pressure on students to finish while also getting a good grade.
Many students participate in sports and other activities. Fall sports have recently come to and end and winter sports have begun. This means students who participate in basketball, swim, and dive now have more responsibility to excel in those activities. As the school year gets closer to the end more assignments and plans have to be tied up. One example being student clubs. Pottsville has amazing clubs that the students are able to participate in. Most upperclassmen students help organize all meetings and activities, with this stress it can be hard to put your best effort into all your classes.
