This year due to the bad weather conditions, it has been canceled. The choir director Teacher Emma Libby was saddened to tell students that had made it about the cancellation since PAHS had ten people going. In 2022, one person from Pottsville made it. In 2023, six people made it. Now for 2024, ten people made it.
“This was my first year getting into the county chorus and I was very excited,” said Michael Prestileo “As someone who didn’t get in the year before I was happy to have learned I made it this year. I was very upset to hear it had gotten canceled with no postponement. Since I’m only a sophomore I have two more years, thankfully.”
The Schuylkill County Chorus Festival has been canceled for 2024 with no plans of postponement. A lot of the seniors wanted the scholarship the festival offered for future music majors. Hopefully for 2025, there will be a weather date so future students don’t have to worry about the festival being canceled in its entirety.
Every year, students from each county audition to be in the Schuylkill County Chorus. It is a selective audition process with only about twenty people for each category of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass making it in. As a singer, you are ranked in your vocal category and get scored based on tone and vocal agility.
