STC North campus hosts 5k race (image)
As the weather begins to get nicer, now is a great time to get outside and be active. This year, STC North hosted a 5k and Fun Run for people throughout the county.
A 5k and 1.5-mile run was held May 7 at the STC North campus in Frackville. The 5k began at 9 a.m., and the 1.5-mile run began at 9:15 a.m. Medals were given to males and females that placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their respective age groups. There was a trophy awarded to the school with the most school spirit, which was shown by wearing school apparel, bringing signs or wearing crazy outfits. Schools throughout the county were encouraged to participate. STC also ran a raffle for a Fitbit at the event.
“STC is a big part of our community, and I think that many school districts throughout the county forget that there is a whole other world at STC where great things happen,” Mrs. Michelle McGinty, guidance director, said. “This race and fun run was a great way to show positive extracurricular activity in the Schuylkill County. It also gave the guidance office a good opportunity to showcase some of the fun activities that STC supports.”
Registration began at 7:45 a.m. The 5k cost $25 and the 1.5-mile run cost $15. If you have any questions about sponsoring STC events or are curious about future events or runs, contact Stacey at 570-544-4748 extension 3116 or email [email protected].
