PBIS benefits students with no disciplinary referrals
To reward students for good behavior, faculty members set up an obstacle course that included a bean bag toss, a dizzy free throw shot, navigating through cones, jumping over boxes and crawling through a spider web net. Those who did not sign up to participate but had no discipline infractions were able to watch the event.
Teams that participated consisted of seniors Parker Rose and Emily Witmier, senior Kory Kleckner and junior Hannah Joyce, juniors Stephen Messina and Ian Murhon, senior Eric Wapinsky and junior Ian Renninger, seniors Peyton Connors and Kayla Drasdis and freshmen Mason Barnes and Kevin Schenk.
“My favorite part of the obstacle course was doing it with Peyton,” Drasdis said. “I also enjoyed laughing and having a good time with the other participants.”
Kleckner and Joyce won with the best time: two minutes, twenty two seconds.
“I don’t think either of us expected to win, but it was a nice surprise,” Joyce said. “I had a lot of fun. I’m glad I got to do it with him.”
The faculty hopes that students continue with their positive behavior so more events can be held like this.
“I would like to have another possible dodgeball tournament at the end of the year,” Ms. Tiffany Reedy, principal said. “Students really enjoyed that as well.”
