Mrs. Holobetz is the dean here at DHH Lengel Middle School, but did you know she used to be an English Language Arts teacher for many years?
Lengel Lingo recently interviewed Holobetz, and we asked her some questions about why she decided to leave the classroom to become the dean.
When asked why she made the switch, she said, “I like to see the students throughout the day.” She added that there are difficult times, too, adding that the worst thing about being the dean is that “the students you work with could sometimes be disrespectful to you, and that’s hurtful.”
Although Holobetz admitted that the job is difficult, she also said, “I love it.”
Here are some things about Holobetz that you may not know. She has two sons, Josh and Corey. At school, she’s also the coach of the PBIS Ambassadors, and her favorite sports are basketball and football. Many students described her as a caring and loving dean, which makes sense. Holobetz said she loves to cheer up people’s days.
Although she said she misses celebrating with the kids and teaching them in the classroom, Holobetz said the best part of being a dean is seeing kids changing their ways. “In the past year, I’ve seen students that may have been misbehaving and being thrown out of class change their ways.”
That’s all about Mrs. Holobetz! Like she always says, “Roll Tide!”
