The girls swim team stands proud on the podium knowing they made history as the first district runner ups. Overall the girls scored a 242 in the team event. Katie Painter says, “Being able to compete in districts was a great experience. With the new change, came more opportunities to swim and compete and allowed for a really wonderful day packed with many memories.”

The PIAA State Swimming And Diving Championships have been held at Bucknell University for many years. After Thursday, March 11, 2020, all remaining swimming and dive events were cancelled for the rest of the week. Swimmer Taleah Ruben said, “I was very upset with states being postponed. With everything being closed, I cannot continue my training.”

He said, “In the off season for swim, I still have practice. This gives me the advantage over the kids who do not practice in the off season to get better.”

Swimming and diving practices occur for up to three hours. It is evident that the swim and dive team put all of their effort into practice. “I always have the chance to try new, crazy dives that I have never attempted before. Sometimes you smack, hard; but the pain is only temporary. It’s all worth it when you finally get the satisfaction of getting the new dive,” junior Owen Golden said.
