Hi! My name is Gillian Revenis and I am a senior at PAHS. I am an editor-in-chief for Tide Lines Online and The Castle. Along with being in pub, I am a part of my school’s Drama Club, French Club, Tennis team, Choir, Mini-Thon Club, Majorette Squad, Ecology Club, Student Council, Key Club and Sketch Club. A fun fact about me is I am a vegetarian, and I love politics. During my free time, you can usually find me on stage or binge watching a Netflix show. I plan to attend the University of Pittsburgh to double major in biological sciences and environmental science.

During a lab activity where students researched different bacteria shapes, junior Victoria Oswald peers into a microscope to observe bacteria examples. Oswald was one of 56 students who were accepted to the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences out of 302 applicants. “I wanted to do something over the summer to show colleges that I love science, and I want to expand my horizons,” Oswald said.

Freshman Bobby Walchak attends the National Combine and U.S. All-American Bowl. He was chosen out of a selected group of underclassmen football players throughout the country. “While I was at this camp, we did things like the broad jump, vertical jump and 40-yard dash. We also had one-on-one competitions against cornerbacks, with the quarterback throwing at us,” Walchak said.

While practicing for the upcoming show “The Elf Who Fell from the Shelf,” junior Rachael Lenker and senior Max Kelly rehearse their partner dance, which they and four other couples performed to “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. The show was held December 1 and consisted of many Christmas-themed dances. “I enjoy coming to practice to not only further my dance education, but to spend time with some of the best people,” Lenker said.

Sometimes it is really hard to maintain good grades, but in order for me to keep them up, I do my assignments as soon as possible. I also study as soon as I get the information,” Vidal said.

Quiz Team members attended their last match of the year March 31; they competed against all the schools in the county. “The senior varsity members that competed were Charles Botto, Rachel Rubright, Jessica Wensus, Jessica Angelichio, Logan Spevak and Colin Williams. The seniors did an outstanding job this year and won 70 percent of the total matches they competed in,” Mrs. Krista Torpey, Quiz Team adviser, said.

Her family established a scholarship in her memory. “This scholarship was set up to help majorettes pay for college and remember all the good she tried to do for them. We are thinking of giving each senior some money to help more people instead of one big winner. With all the donations, my family and I are very thankful and it is a nice way to remember her by helping the kids she loved to help,” junior Collin Ebling said.

While bending down to the water fountain on the third floor, junior Hannah Duncan drinks out of the fountain. Students are not allowed have water bottles on them, so they must drink out of the fountain. “I don't like drinking out of the water fountains because they are dirty and people put their mouths on them.” junior Hannah Duncan said. “The water does not taste bad, but I would just rather bring a water bottle in my bookbag.”
