Brady’s Retirement

He recently announced his retirement from the NFL after being quarterback for 22 seasons. “A lot of times, I find that people who are blessed with the most talent don’t ever develop that attitude, and the ones who aren’t blessed in that way are the most competitive and have the biggest heart,” Tom Brady.

Tom Brady has made his mark in the NFL winning six Super Bowl rings. Tom Brady has the most Super Bowl rings with six of them being from the New England Patriots, and one from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady was a teammate on the Patriots for 20 seasons before his split with New England to go to the Buccaneers. It was rumored for a day that Tom Brady’s successful career has come to an end.

On February 1 Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady broke his silence on his Instagram about the retirement from the NFL after 22 years of playing. Brady quoted on social media, “I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore.” He also tells his fellow teammates and coaches that he “loved going to battle with you” and he is also thankful for the two years of family.

When Tom Brady was still the quarterback for the Buccaneers, he broke 54 NFL records. Tom Brady currently has the record for the most games won by a quarterback at 263; 230 regular seasons. Also, with 343 games under his belt, Brady has started the most games by a quarterback in NFL history. As he played football on both Buccaneers and Patriots, Brady has led them to the record for most touchdown passes in the regular and postseason at 661. Also, Brady was the oldest NFL player to ever win the Super Bowl “Most Valuable Player.” There are various records that Tom Brady has accomplished over his 22 seasons in the NFL.

“I find it interesting and impressive for one guy to break countless records in the NFL. I see Tom Brady as an extremely humble player for being in the NFL for so long,” said junior Brandon Woollam

Tom Brady was born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California as the son of Tom and Gaylynn Brady. Brady had been inspired to become a professional football player since his childhood days idolizing quarterback Joe Montana. He was never picked first when it came to football and was struggling in college.

He first came into the NFL as the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan in 1999 and was selected by Bill Belichick to the New England Patriots.

“Tom Brady is the greatest player ever to play in the NFL. Even though he isn’t my favorite, how can you not appreciate what he has done,” said junior Noah Stevenson.
