PLAY – Students participating in the gym activity during PBIS play basketball and volleyball on February 14.

On February 14th (Valentine’s Day), DHH Lengel had a PBIS reward with Saint Clair Area Middle School students. Saint Clair took a bus to our school and spent the morning here participating in activities with DHHL students. All students from grades 5-8 at DHHL and St. Clair participated in the event as long as they earned at least 80 points here, and earned a PBIS ticket at St. Clair.

There were 18 different activities for the students to choose from including basketball/volleyball in the gym, Pokemon, chess, bingo, board games, Minute to Win It, Valentine’s Day craft, two painting rooms, and lots more. The concession stand was open at the top of Martz Hall and was run by teachers from both schools selling pretzels and drinks to students. One of the favorite activities offered was an escape room, run by teachers from St. Clair.

“I had a great time in the escape room. We had to work together with the St. Clair students in order to be able to escape,” 6th grader Liam Stefan said.

The students from Pottsville and St. Clair really enjoyed this PBIS event to get to know each other, especially the class of 2024 who will be entering PAHS with each other this August.

“I watched Toy Story 4 at the PBIS event. It was a fun event, even though I didn’t get to talk to many St. Clair students because of being in the movie,” 6th grader Ava Orlowsky said.

The students are looking forward to planning more events with St. Clair in the future!
