- How did you feel at States for the second year in a row?
Being at States for the second year in a row gave me a little bit of an advantage because I had already experienced the atmosphere before. Being part of the huge group of talented athletes can be super intimidating and really make you get inside your own head but overall it was such a fun and unforgettable experience.
- How did the send off motivate you or affect you in any way?
The send off motivated me to compete. I knew all the people cheering for me were expecting good results so I gave it my all and was able to make the podium.
- What event or events sent you to states and what was your PR in that event/events?
The events that sent me to states were the 100 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, and long jump. My PR for the 100H is 15.18, for the 300H it’s 44.75, and the long jump is 18’9.5.”
- How did your experience at States differ from last year since this is your second time now?
My experience at states this year was different from last year mostly because I was in 3 events rather than just 1. I had a lot more to manage this time around however because of this I was able to meet so many new athletes who I became friends with.
- What advice would you give to any underclassmen hoping to achieve your level of success in the sport?
The biggest piece of advice I’d give to underclassmen hoping to achieve my level of success in track is to stay humble and focused. Getting a big head is a quick way for things to go south. Making sure you’re focused on your goals and always giving your absolute best will lead you to success.
