Tide Tones to perform at Reading Royals game for third year in a row

SING – The Tide Tones pose for a picture together after a performance.

The Tide Tones are a special group of singers! This group of seventh and eighth grade students tried out to be in this group. The Tide Tones are very well known in this community. Tide Tones are an elite choir, and they sing many different types of songs. At the end of March, the Tide Tones are going to be singing our National Anthem at the Santander Arena at a Reading Royals hockey game. On what day are the Tide Tones going you ask? Well, the group is going on Friday, March 27, 2020, at the Santander Arena at 7:00 p.m. If you would like to buy a ticket, there will be a link to follow at the bottom of the article. And a portion of each ticket sold through the link below will go directly back to the middle school music department!

Mrs. Kayla Kurtz is the director of the Tide Tones. Kurtz has been taking the Tide Tones to the Reading Royals games since March 2018.

“The Royals reached out to our department, and I thought it would be a really cool experience for our students to sing the anthem at such a big venue,” said Kurtz.

Throughout the seasons, Kurtz takes the Tide Tones to many different events. At the beginning of the year, the Tide Tones went and caroled around the community. In the ending portion of the year, the Tide Tones will sing our National Anthem at several events around the community.

I asked Kurtz what her favorite event to attend was, “My favorite event is the Royals. The team is so generous to our group, and I love seeing the Tide Tones students having an amazing opportunity to perform and have fun at a hockey game!”

Kurtz would like to let any seventh or eighth grade student for the 2020-2021 school year know that if you are interested in joining Tide Tones, you can see Mrs. Kurtz at the beginning of the year for information!

All tickets purchased through the link will be seated in the same section, so all of the Pottsville fans will be together!
