Mrs. Kayla Watt and I have been trying to get more and more students of age to register to vote. There are posters in the hallways that tell you how to register to vote. We will also be going around to the senior home rooms to see if anyone is interested to register.

To register to vote you must be 17 and 18 on or before November 5. Registering to vote is the first step to being a part of our democracy and voting. Especially since Pennsylvania is a purple state, which means the state leans in the middle not towards red or blue. Voting is extremely important if you want to make a contribution to your country.

“I turn 18 in October so registering to vote has been on my to do list for a little while now. It was a very easy process and can be done online so I didn’t even have to go to the courthouse. They got my information and in about a week or two I was sent my voter registration card in the mail. As soon as I was officially registered, it felt empowering because now I am able to have a say in how our country is run. I can vote to support my beliefs and make that vote count,” senior Lauren Kelly said.

Every four years there is a Presidential election and every four years more kids are able to vote. Registering to vote has become much easier over the years. It’s developed with the new age and it keeps on changing.
