Mrs. Katelynn Reichard, Jake Powers (9), Makenzie Rebel (11), and Robert Rulavage (11), during their sectional. The four of them were practicing How the Grinch Stole Christmas for the band’s concert.

The concert was held on December 14 at 7. Mrs. Hummel made an announcement as well as Vincent Prestileo to introduce Mrs. Reichard to the audience. Junior “Overall it was a good concert and the Christmas music was very merry,” said Dominic Zembas.

Every year, the Pottsville Area High School band has a Christmas concert for the holiday season. Every year the songs are different. The only songs that stay the same are A Christmas Festival and Sleigh Ride. The songs vary depending on the skill level of the band.

Multiple musicians have said that their favorite song was Let the Bells Ring. All of the songs feature a section or someone that has a solo. Mrs. Katelynn Reichard loves to recognize her musicians for doing their absolute best. Near the end of the concert, Mrs. Reichard will recognize them for getting into band festivals and before each song will shout them out for their featured part.

“I was super excited for the Christmas concert and I’m really proud of the progress we all were able to make in such a short time,” said freshman Jake Powers. “My favorite song we did was Let the Bells Ring because it’s a piece where my section gets to show off a bit.”
