Junior high girls’ basketball just finished out a strong season. Although there are strict guidelines such as wearing masks, the girls still had a fun season.

8th grader Lainey Dusel said, “I really like basketball this year, but it stinks that we had periods of cancellation because of COVID.”

For a few weeks in December and January, basketball practices and games were halted due to cases in the schools and on teams.

7th grader Justine Siminitus said, “Even though we had all the delays of the season, I’m really happy we were able to get back in the swing of things. My team and I tried to stay positive, even though it was weird to not have our parents at away games and to play with masks.”

Spirits remained high among the girls, allowing them to finish their season with strong records for both the 7th and 8th grade teams.

Finally, 8th grader Lauren Ditzler said, “It’s very difficult having to play with a mask. While playing, I have a hard time breathing. I think masks are helpful to keep us safe, but while playing basketball it’s really hard.”

Although the situation wasn’t the best all season, the girls are looking forward to more normalcy in 2021-2022.
