Every year from September 15 to October 15 is a celebration called Hispanic Heritage Month. It’s about offering an opportunity to learn about and honor the diversity and resilience of people of Hispanic heritage living in America.
To find the meaning and purpose for this holiday, we asked for some opinions around DHH Lengel Middle School.
Some students said it means celebrating Hispanic culture by dressing up in traditional clothes and spending time with family and friends. The Lengel Lingo also asked Hispanic students why it’s important to celebrate the month-long observance of Hispanic Heritage Month. “It brings families together and celebrates family traditions; and it brings everyone together,” said Reggionna Seals, a grade student at DHH Lengel Middle School. “Family is very important and Hispanic Heritage Month is a great celebration of Hispanic heritage and uniting families – and overall celebrating Hispanic culture and traditions.”
