Conville Twins place in Scholastic Art Awards
Seniors Julia and Rachel Conville placed in this year’s Scholastic Art Awards at a regional level. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is an esteemed nationwide art contest sponsored by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Amazon, and The New York Times among many others.
To enter the competition, students in grades from 7-12 submit an original piece to any of the 29 available art and writing categories. From there, all submissions are evaluated regionally by over 100 associates of the Alliance of Young Artists and Writers. Those who place will then go on to be evaluated nationally.
Regionally, Rachel Conville won Gold and Silver Keys and two honorable mentions. Julia Conville won a Gold Key and two honorable mentions.
Due to their achievements, their works of art will be on exhibit at Marywood University in Scranton. Their Gold Key works of art will advance to the national level in the National Scholastic Art and Writing contest in New York. There, their artwork will be eligible for scholarships and further awards.
