This past Monday, students from PAHS attend the Junior Achievement Young Women’s Symposium. The Young Women’s Symposium is a full day of activities surrounding women’s empowerment. It hosts speakers, workshops, career exploration, and self assessment.

The Junior Achievement Symposiums are one-day workshops for “mentoring, motivation, and opportunity for high school juniors and seniors”, as explained on their website. Through seven years of Symposiums, over 1,000 Central Pennsylvania students have benefited, with no cost.

According to their website, “A typical Symposium includes presentations and speakers, mentoring sessions, and activities that help students gain personal and career success skills.” Students from PAHS were able to attend this past Tuesday.

One of the students in attendance was junior Isabelle Mettam. Mettam said, “During our trip to Lebanon valley we got to watch many presentations from very wonderful and powerful women. They showed us how to better our lives and ourselves. We did activities on how to handle a budget and finding things about ourselves we liked but wanted to love. During the trip we also got to talk to each of the mentors and listen to their career stories.”
